Schulert Family Road Trip: Kangaroos and Elephants and Goats, Oh My!

On Thursday, Uncle Steven made waffles and piled on strawberries and ice cream for the girls. Baileigh, our cousin, was there. (She was out of town last week when we drove through.) Jane and Grace immediately became her shadow. They've been playing hide and seek for the last two days!

We headed out to Grant's Farm (former home of Ulysses S. Grant) where the Budweiser Clydesdales live. Uncle Steven and Aunt Linda very sweetly surprised them with passes to ride the carousel, feed the goats and get a snow cone. Plus, we were able to see the animal show (complete with porcupine and Bald Eagle) and the elephant show.

Poor Jane with her pink cheeks. She still wasn't
tip top, but we kept her hydrated.

Grace would get very indignant if another goat butted in
while she was feeding her favorite "baby" goat. She'd yell
at it, "GO AWAY! You're not a BABY!"

It took her a couple of times around to realize her lion
wasn't going up and down. But we hurried her on to the
next thing before she demanded a re-ride.

All three girls fell asleep in the car on the way home, so we didn't even hop out while Uncle Steven and Aunt Linda ran in to get the bbq supplies for dinner at cousin Amy's house. Amy has three kids, too, ages 8, 7, and 1. Zachary was a sweetheart who could make all the babies laugh. Kaitlyne (I'm probably spelling that wrong) and Jane really hit it off and swam together and would have played Barbies, too, but ran out of time. Grace and Ben and Rosalie played in the water table and the wading pool. So much fun! It was so great to see them all happy, healthy, and growing so big!
