Four years ago when we made our last cross-country trek, we ended up in Tulsa, Oklahoma on a Monday. When the Woody Guthrie Center is closed. What a sad day.

But, we finally made it back and this picture alone made it totally worth it! Joseph and Rosalie are listening to "Take Me Riding in the Car Car" and just cracking up!
I also got to see Pete Seeger's banjo!!! I sent Arthur to go ask where Woody's "This Machine Kills Fascists" guitar was - and apparently, they've (there were several) have been lost to the ages. They may still be out there somewhere, but no one knows where.

Jane has always loved the song "Way Over Yonder in the Minor Key," a Woody Guthrie song covered by Billy Bragg, and they had a whole display with the lyrics and album cover! We made sure to listen to it as we left town.
The best part of this museum was not just finally getting to see it, but watching my children revel in the music I love.
The rest of the day was just driving, driving and more driving. We loved watching the sunset and the moonrise while we sang Christmas carols (thanks, Rachel, for the caroling songbook!).

Tonight's KOA is "two-layered" much to their delight and they spent a good hour playing wolfpack while Arthur and I laid out church clothes for tomorrow and did some blogging.
Tomorrow we'll reach Fort Wayne!
